An Important Update from Mayerson & Associates: COVID-19

March 13. 2020
Dear Clients,
We know that many of our families are taking precautions concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We want you to know that we too are taking a number of precautions to ensure that we can continue to provide your family with the quality service and support you deserve.
We have been in contact with a number of schools and providers and we are tracking school closings. We have also identified COVID-19 related issues that may arise for our client families. Some of the issues we are developing plans for include: how to avoid further delays in the hearing process, how to ensure that we are doing everything we can to secure timely funding/reimbursement for settlements, pendency orders and/or winning decisions, how to address school closures (public and private schools), how to address possible disruptions to a student’s home or community-based related services, and how to address absences (especially for students who are medically fragile).
We understand how imperative it is for your child to be receiving the appropriate services and supports and we also appreciate the financial impact that families experience while waiting for a settlement or a hearing decision. We are doing everything we can to minimize any adverse impact on your family and we would be happy to speak with your family individually about how COVID-19 may impact your particular circumstances.
All staff in our office are taking additional precautions in an effort to minimize risk. We have developed contingency plans in the event that some or all of our staff need to work remotely. We have multiple work sites available to our team outside of NYC. Our infrastructure is set up so that we all have access to your matter and all necessary information. We have the ability to schedule conference calls and/or video conference calls with your family and/or your child’s school/providers, if needed.
We understand that information is critical. Simply stated, we are here for you and your family.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call us at 212.265.7200 or send us an email.
